Ugh, Stop Asking Me 'What's for Dinner?'
/by Eve Vawter
When they were first released, my darling husband purchased me an Apple watch. The Apple watch comes with preloaded text messages you can use to reply to people that say things like, "Sure!" and "On My Way," and the message that we use most often in my own home: "Pizza sounds great!" Because that's usually the default statement we make when we can't decide what to make for dinner, which is happening more and more often.
I hate making dinner. Even more than making dinner, I hate deciding what to make for dinner. I have no new ideas and I'm sick of people asking me what I plan on making. Yeah, yeah, I actually love cooking, and I love food and talking about food... I just hate being the only person in my household who makes the decision about what people will actually stick in their mouth holes when it's time to sit down for the evening meal. Everyone in my family has opinions. On occasion someone will request tacos or chicken or something else I make but for the most part when I ask these people what they want they say, "I don't care," or "Whatever sounds great."

I have resorted to feeding them all cereal when I just can't work up the imagination to plan a menu. Other things I have served for dinner over the last few weeks? Grilled cheese roll-ups. Waffles. That chicken Alex Lee made (and yes, it really is worth it). And ordering pizza. I browse Pinterest and Smitten Kitchen and Epicurious along with the best of them, but I just have zero inspiration lately. I think part of it is because I could happily eat the same thing for multiple days in a row. I could make a cold tuna macaroni salad with celery and scallions and tiny little baby peas and be happy as a clam. My family, however, would not be.
So that's where you come in, my dear readers. What the hell are you making lately? Where are you finding recipes? Or are you also in a funk like I am and sick of being the one to always decide what's for dinner? Because in my opinion, pizza always sounds great.
